Default New Design: Deltiod Starliner

Nice rocket design JTRhro and Craig. Those idea's definetly seem to work well.
Lately I was layed off work on friday and played keep away from the phone so I could have some time off. I stopped by a jobsite today just check the job and was hired to start work on Monday. No rest for the weary. I just wanted time to heal some nagging injuries like my left shoulder and my left anckle.

Anyway her is a design I call (for lack of a better name) the Deltiod Starliner. Its a mixture of all of our designs.

Default BARCLONE Update Alert

I've just finished working up a list of all of the plans that will be available on the website shortly, including some of those that I mentioned were in question, as well as a few that I had trouble locating on my computer. James, your most-recent (Deltoid Starliner) has also been sent to the queue.

The current count of plans, including all of the variations on a single plan that we've done from time to time, now sits at 273.

We only need 27 more plans before December 31 to reach the goal of 300.

Thumbs up Goal in Reach

WE CAN DO IT!!

I have about 10-12 more that are a basic design, but they need a little more tweeking and a pre posting checkup before I can post them.

I personally think that Jay is holding out on us and keeping his best designs for himself.

And you're probably right. Except you need to add, "to possibly be released as official kits... *later.*"

(What, you don't like the Mars Voyager? )

Bill's seen a couple (okay, a half dozen) designs over the last couple of years. But he's not one to spill the beans. (Maybe eat one or two on rare occasions. But spill them, no.)

Default Bill's Weakness ??

I bet that Bill would spill the beans if we offered him the right kind and amount of his favorite...

BEER!!

PS. I am as well holding back one of my Best of the Best kit/design. Its not Rocksim-doable because of the centerline fin thing. The other called the Ranger I just have not gotten around to it yet. Hansen has a photo of it somewhere that I e-mailed him a few years ago.

Lost in this mess somewhere I'm sure.

Exclamation New Plan -- ViperJet 4256

Talk about procrastination, I've had this rocket sitting off to one side for so long, I've forgotten how long I've had it. Maybe six years...

The LHS had this LOC Viper 4 in stock probably since the day they opened, and that was long enough for the price sticker to fade, yellow, and crack. I'm not really sure why I bought it, other than I was just looking for "something bigger" than a typical modroc. I didn't particularly care for the fin shape of the Viper, but figured I might find a better fin shape sometime in the future...

Well, it's "Back to the Future" time, and the inspiration is a combination of several EnerJet fin patterns, with a contribution from not just a few Estes models...

The ViperJet 4256...

Length: 45"
Diameter: 2.63" (LOC 2.56)
Fin Span: 12.06"
Weight: 15.5 oz

This is a high-performance cluster model, requiring four (4) 24mm motors. All motor combinations (except the poor E9-8) will reach flight V on a 48" rod, 1/4" diameter.

(4) C11-3..................270'......20 FPS......Margin 4.18
(4) D12-5..................783'......23 FPS......Margin 3.97
(4) D15-6..................992'......11 FPS......Margin 3.93
(2) E9-6 + (2) D12-7......1112'......36 FPS......Margin 3.69
(4) E9-8..................1438'......30 FPS......Margin 3.45 (Needs 56")
(4) E18-8.................2305'......27 FPS......Margin 3.58
(4) E6-8..................2347'......28 FPS......Margin 3.86
(4) F72-10................3879'......47 FPS......Margin 3.31
(4) F32-10................4252'......32 FPS......Margin 3.17
(4) G37-10................5277'......56 FPS......Margin 2.81

The LOC 50" nylon parachute is used for recovery. Use birch plywood, 1/8" thick, for the new fins. All Dv values above 25 need to have their parachute lines reefed to prevent an explosive opening, which may result in a shredder...

Enjoy!

Default New Design: XR-1

Scott, know what you mean about lost in the mess. I did however find the old photo's of the Ranger and they are very poor. Someday I will take some better one's and whip up a large rocksim file and compress it with Craig's help. Key word here Someday.

New design called the XR-1 is a strange spinnoff of a SR-71 with much longer ramjets.

Thanks Again and Enjoy, JP
