R/C Astron Invader
I saw a posting recently of the old Astron Invader rocket glider, and I decided to make a 19" 6mm depron based version with R/C control for the D2.3 longburn 18mm motor. I made the forward pylon laminated from two pieces to give better strength with the foam and to allow me to mount the rail buttons to the side instead of the launch lug which went between the two separate pylon halves in the original. Since I'm controlling it I removed the dihedral to allow a simple single 2.5mm carbon spar. I mounted a longer pointy cone after the test flights since it allowed me to drop the overall weight a tenth of an ounce and it looks better. I just pitches a bit off the rail but then is nice and straight for the rest of the boost.
