Heres a couple of proposed surveillance UAV things.
Might make interesting rockets or rocsims.

This one is an ACTUAL MISSILE that has swing-wings engineered into it.

I remember seeing this one on 60-Minutes, about 25 or 30 years ago...

It's a FOG, or Fiber Optic Guided, missile. This design was intended for either ground launching against tanks, or helicopter-launched against tanks or other helicopters. It's an early prototype which never went into production (another cancelled weapons system), but was a forerunner to the modern TOW systems. The single thrust chamber has its exhaust diverted through four nozzles, which allow the cable to spool out through the very rear of the main body tube. I think it carried about 15,000' of cable, which was fed out like line from a Zebco spin-cast fishing reel (probably where the idea came from...).

[Granted, the drawings show this as a jet, not a rocket, and it shows a TV camera in the nose. The Italian drawings also show the FOG spool. This might be a second-generation version of the one shown on 60-minutes...]

It's a Diaper Loader with Spear Tip fins and a single ring tail...

Ought to be simple to whip up in RocSim...

I'll see what I can do...

OK, so it's just a little more than a Diaper Loader...

But it actually sims out nicely on a D12-3!

D12-3.....465'.....779 FPS/S.....4.3 FPS Dv.....36" rod

See the simulation file for additional information...

Enjoy!

(thick Scottish accent) "Let me tell ya now, boy... Yer talkin' about a whole lotta CRAP!"

I came across these two RockSim files for 18 and 24mm versions of the "Sky Captain" missile, apparently from The Rocketry Forum (TRF).

Cheers,

Default Sky Captain 18mm

Me Too, Me Too,
I love this sci-fi stuff. Great pic Chris and keep the inspiration coming.

Very nice version of the Sky Captian, Craig, looks great.

Well, mine does look really close to Craig's but does differ a little.

Thanks Again, JP
