Default Another Interceptor Project

I didn't want to hijack Wallynum's thread on his Interceptor so I decided to start another one. Here's the latest photo of my new Interceptor model. I'm getting the fins mounted now. In the background you can see the beginning stages of the nose cone and a normal sized Interceptor that I'm using for scaling. NSL 2007 or bust!

I hear it too! WOW! That is some BIG Interceptor! Wish I could see it in person at NSL, but alas, the money tree has dried up here But, please take pictures of the launch!

Maybe next year.....

**** - The dimensions I downloaded from the internet are wrong so now my pods are too short! Now I've got to figure out how to extend a tube filled with 2-part foam...

-sigh-

Mario,

What size is your main body tube?

I can scale you some drawings easy enough so you can get it right.

Here's an "approximate" 2x upscale that is sized to fit a BT-80H body tube.

I drew these all myself so there are no copyright issues.

I also have them in CAD as dxf and dwg file.

Just let me know what you need.

Sandman,

It looks like I have a copy of the 3X version of your plans. You're pretty close on the length of the back half of the pod, but you're off on the length of the nosecone. The pods on the original Interceptor used a BWP-EJ nose cone that was 2.75 inches long - I verified it in an old parts catalog and on my original model. Scaling it up 3X give you a cone length of 8.25 inches instead of the 7.22 inches shown in the drawing. Additionally, my cone was actually a little shorter that that so I'm left with a 1.75 inch shortfall.

I'll just have to peel the tube off and cut the foam flush then do it again with a bit of extra tube length to make up for the nose cone length.

Mario

PS

Thanks for making these great drawing available.

I see what happened when i did the drawings. I had used parts made by JimZ years ago and he had the tube length wrong.

I rechecked them with the parts made by Scott and that's where I found and fixed the error.

I'm making parts now?

You probably meant Moldin' Oldies which was Mike Schmidt. I just host his website.
