No, it was the newer kit with plastic nozzles. The paper nozzles I felt gave it a "kick" of realism the the solid plastic nozzles wouldn't have provided. See attached, which are as near as I can tell from actual pic metrics, what the full size escape nozzles were for the Mercury tower (someone please correct me if they know something different). Thanks for the pdf. I could kick myself for not taking photos of the genuine, unused, MR LES scaffold, nozzles, and motor when I was at the Kansas Cosmosphere last year. It was an inside exhibit and you could even touch it.

The attached drawing might help. I have it as a .dxf if you can use it.

Speaking for me, please do! Just for clarification, this is for the LJ1 configuration, correct? Greg |

It definitely looks like LJI to me. And since it has the two probes on top, I believe it would be mission LJ-6.

Or 1 or 1B. Look at this http://www.spacemodeling.org/PeterMcQuillan/chart.html I'd upload the .dxf but the forum doesn't support that. I'll try Zipping it later.

The attached file is the zipped .dxf file.
I've got a file cabinet drawer full of Little Joe stuff so if you need anything in specific let me know and I see if I have it.

Thanks, Bill. Autodesk makes some freeware called DWG TrueView 2010, which was able to open the .dwg file. Greg |

Finally I'm working on the LJI again. After 5 coats of Aerogloss sanding sealer on the capsule and fins and so much sanding that I have fingtertips like John Dillinger, I shot the gray primer on the booster, fins, and capsule. It's not too bad so far. Some minor flaws to sand and correct, but nothing serious.
Mary is painting the entire LES motor and scaffold by hand now that she's back from her swimsuit modelling shoot in Rio. I'm still undecided on how to do the escape nozzles: solid wood cones or rolled card stock. I have some scrap card stock left from the 1B builds. I'll try it.
