cc: X-21
Title: Title: cc: X-21
Kit number: KCC-4 Background Information brief: The X-21 was introduced in the 1964 Centuri catalog as their third Boost Glider kit. Building on design improvements over the Aero-Bat and Acro-Bat, the X-21 was Centuri’s answer to the Estes Space Plane. The X-21 was described as the successor to the Aero-Bat in the 1964 catalog. The X-21 was released as Catalog #BG-21 and had an introductory price of $2.75. It was also referred to as Catalog #KBG-2. The X-21 was in production for only five years. It was one of the first boost gliders to offer a clear payload section for live payloads (not recom- mended any more.) The addition of a construction jig to align the fins was also one of the firsts. The Retro-Repro cc: X-21 is a very close approxi- mation of the original kit. Laser-cut fins are provided using the original patterns as models. The hinges are made of a more durable plastic adhesive instead of the original paper. Plans are not provided in this kit but they are available online at: https://www.oldrocketplans.com/cent...1/cenKBG-21.htm Designer: Wayne Kellner Release Date: 03/10/2006 In Production: 2006-2014 Parts List & Notes PDF https://www.oldrocketplans.com/semr...roc_cc_X-21.pdf Requested attachments: Fin patterns (200 dpi grayscale PDF) Decal scan (600 dpi color PDF) Rocksim file Last edited by Ltvscout : 03-20-2023 at 12:47 PM. |

First available at NARCON 2006, 3/10/2006. Product annoucement 3/10/06:
The Mars Lander is a true classic. Glossy embossed wraps, laser cut fins, balsa nose cone, and real working landing gear. Designed for the master modeler, the Mars Lander is a trip to the past. In commemoration of the Piester's visit to NARCON, we have released a Retro-Repro of an early Centuri classic. The X-21 for many old-timers was the embodiment of Centuri's early days. The NARCON 2006 X-21 was free to the first 100 customers at NARCON and online until they were gone. Finally some results of the months of making the best recreation of Gene Street's interpretation of the Saturn 1B. The Apollo Capsule is available standalone and will be included in the upcoming Saturn 1B and Little Joe II kits, all of which are 1/70 scale. Last edited by 5x7 : 03-20-2023 at 10:22 AM. |
