A few weeks back I was going through an old thread looking for something and found something else. I don't remember what I was looking for, but I found a post I made telling about an Estes Solar Warrior that my daughter bought me a few Christmases back. I'd completely forgotten about it and started looking through my kit stash trying to find it. It remained hidden until last night and I realized why I'd never built it. Both ends of the BT-60 tube were crushed. It all flooded back to me then. I remembered putting it away and thinking that I'd need to get a new BT-60 before I could start on it.
Add to that a Black Friday purchase I made from StickerShock. Did you know he made custom decals for Der Red Max? I tell you, I was blown away. For a change I didn't have a DRM on hand to start on the project when it arrived, but last night when I found the Solar Warrior I realized that I could buy a Mean Machine or Citation Patriot, scavenge the body tube for the Solar Warrior, and cut the ends off of the Solar Warrior tube for the DRM-to-be. Hobby Lobby had one Citation Patriot left on the pegs, so now both projects are on the table. (It's been TWO WEEKS since I built something! Cut me a break!)
Hoping to have the Solar Warrior flying by Saturday.

Solar Warrior was my first kit as a BAR. I still think it's beautiful. Great flyer.

The big one or the little one? This is the big one. I like it, but I find it irritating that they recycled the name.
And as far as a current project, it appears I jumped the gun. The fin stock is warped enough that it will need to spend a couple of weeks under a heavy book.

Funny you should mention the Solar Warrior. I have one on my winter build list. It's been around for at least 6 years so I need to get started on it. As for the Max, I also have two under construction now. One is a replacement Drei Max and the other is a Der Big Red Max made from BT-70 tubing left over from the Fireball XL5. I got a nose and some rings from erockets about two weeks ago, so now I have all the parts needed to finish it. I think it will look great as an upscale.

Ooh! Coal scuttle grey with a black cone?
