Antiqueing finds.
Today, while at an antique store in Laconia, NH.
I came across an original Cox P-40 Warhawk in almost pristine condition. They were asking $175.00, a decent price. If it is still there next month, I will buy it and sell it on FeeBay. It is complete in a box and the box is in good shape. Plane is the light tan color and the decals are in good shape. I'll go back next week and check it out closer, out of the locked cabinet it is in.

So, is it .049? Control line or free flight?

It is the .049 control line from the late fifties to early sixties.
The motor is inverted.

That was the first model airplane I had, other than the balsa rubber band and hand chucks. 1958.

I had this model back in the 1970's and my brother stole it from me and sold it in a yard sale.
When I told my mother that my plane was taken out of my room, my mother went to my brother and demanded that he hand over all the money he made. She handed all of it to me except $20.00. I still haven't forgiven him for this act and remind him about it every chance I get.

I had a tan colored P40 in 1969, it was the best of any of the COX plastic control line planes.
My friends and I got many flights out of the War Hawk. Not like the Junker JU87 Stuka (JUNKY) the Stuka was built very weak compared to the P40. Between my cousin and myself we had probably 10 different COX control line models in the late 60's and early 70's, my cousins favorite was the RED BARON. I think I am still dizzy!

I got the Red Baron for Christmas of '72.
My brother and his friend tried to fly it but crashed on the first flight attempt. I was sick with the flu and watched from the door. I was P.O.ed when they brought it to me in pieces. My mother said to them they better replace it, but they did not. I have owned all the other types and sold them as a lot for good money.
