What I really think is RockSim doesn't know how to deal with that type of asymetry, and just fudges the figures to what it's preprogrammed to understand. That our asymetrical designs seem to function as calculated may be as much accidental as it is planned...

New Plan -- CenturiJet 1524
This was just an exercise to start using some of Carl's other components. It's got the lines I think we all seem to like, borrowing heavily from the EnerJet and Centuri catalogs. The performance is not too bad, either. I was trying to get low Dv numbers using SU motors, while still getting good altitude numbers.

New Design: Mace
Great job with the recent designs Craig. I hope you get to feeling better soon.
Been so busy lately that I have some catching up to do with you folks. As I was watching the History channel on some midievil weapons I came up with this design called Mace that looks close to the original that was shown. New Plans -- Educator Series
OK, this is a no-frills, bare-bones type of model that is intended for school classroom and scouting troop "build-em-fly-em" projects. You will note the similarity to a certain Centuri design with the same heritage, but that really is accidental and unintended. As was noted with another design recently, five fins has a notable impact on the stability of a model over a model with four, yet six fins doesn't seem to produce as drastic an improvement over the five.
Each Educator fits into a power level that is comparable to the skill of the builder. The "A" model is a single 18mm design using the ST-8 tube. The "B" model uses the ST-10, but is powered with a 24mm motor. The "C" model is a cluster design using LT-175 tubing and three 18mm motors. Fin Pattern -- Andromeda
Here's the templates for the Andromeda fins. Be careful when cutting the slots for the shrouds, as this is a tricky fit. You may need to assemble the fins first, then cut the fins across the whole assembly even with the inside diameter of the shroud, and finally trim out the shroud areas from the outer fin section before gluing it back in place. Use 1/8" hardwood dowels for the connectors in the tips and intermediate stretchers.
Addendum: I did not show the notch for the HTC-7B coupler used to hold the engine hook in place, as some might not want to include a hook and just go "friction fit". Personally, I'd use the hook...
