No halter-mounted red (Champion) or blue (Reserve Champion) rosette for me at the Peterborough show, but ranked high enough (#038), perhaps, by Semroc to be in the "commended" category. The last thing I won in a drawing was a box of Titleist golf balls at a firemen's dinner in 1976...maybe my luck will change soon?

What kind of horses do you show? I assume Drafts of some kind. My wife has Appaloosas that she shows here in Texas and surrounding areas. See our web page below.

Interesting... I've looked at your book descriptions but when you mentioned the rosettes and a show I assumed you also had horses yourself.

We have two. One is retired (24+ years old) and lives fat and sassy on a local farm. The other is a young 16-hand blanketed Appaloosa show horse in training that my wife treats like a favored son.

I had planned to when I moved to Alaska, and I bought a two-acre parcel before I became disabled. It's just as well that I didn't get horses--having to part with them after I became disabled would have been more painful than I'd care to contemplate.

I hope the breeders are doing something about their eye problems in their later years--whenever I read about old blind horses at equine sanctuaries, they always seem to be Appaloosas. The third eyelid seems to cause them trouble as they get older.
