Default What in the heck is that color? Estes #1974 Explorer

I am ready to put the paint on a original Estes 1974 Explorer. I am trying to identify what color is the funky blue on the bottom? I attached a copy of the facecard. This is a rare kit due to the nose cone and want to do it right.

I’ve built a couple of them. For colors I used Rustoleum Spa Blue for the upper portion and for the underside I used Rustoleum Winter Gray.

I’ll locate and add some photos.

Default One of my favorites!

That particular rocket has been one of my favorites. That NC is hard to find and I do not think I have found a 3D file to print one. Anyone has a spare NC for this particular rocket?

I do not know what colors those are, but Tamiya has a huge selection of blues and grays. Check the TS and AS series of spray paints. If you want to airbrush the colors, their acrylics are great. They are best diluted with Tamiya Lacquer Thinner. (It is for lacquers and acrylics— not as “hot” as regular lacquer thinner.)

Jack Hydrazine has designed a huge section of 3D printed nose cones. He posts info about his designs on here periodically. Not sure if he has done this one, but maybe you could ask him if he would consider it.

I found the photos. I was right about the colors: Rustoleum Spa Blue and Rustoleum Winter Gray, but I was incorrect about the application. Actually the gray is on top and the blue is on the underside.

I checked my stuff. I don't have a PNC or a kit. I'm pretty sure that was the only model that PNC was used on.

Turns out I bought one of these nose cones years ago from a hobby shop that was selling it as a spare part, so yes I guess I have one. How they got it I do not know.

So, can you scan it to make a 3D model?

If Raul can't, Jack Hydrazine, another member here has the ability to.

I want to try modeling this in 3D and I can find most of what I need. got a nice shot with scale of the wings the rest I can "make it close enough" to pass muster except the ****ed nose cone. the base shape is easy. chopped cylinder. but I can't find a single stinking decent resolution picture of the bottom of that cone (it has details on the bottom)

anyone have some good pictures?
