The thing that really struck me about the Stovepipe was that the glider part didn't look like a rocket, nor did it look anything like a glider, either. It didn't look like anything that one would expect to see sailing along in the sky. A simple cylinder, wingless and open at both ends - I wonder if he might have gotten the idea from kite technology? And I wonder if there would be other hollow shapes that would work, too. MarkII

see the May 69 issue of Model Rocketry at Ninfingers for a buld article on the Infinite Loop. Then check out the Oct 69 issue about how it became a glider (in the Model Rocketeer section). also check out the Ringhawk ring wing glider in the nov/dec 2003 issue of Sport Rocketry. here are some patent numbers to look up in google patents: 3264776 4151674 4246721 4790788 have you seen this: https://skyaak.wordpress.com/about/ it could probably be converted to rocket power terry dean

I found the first article about the Infinite Loop in the 5/69 issue if MR, but I could not find any mention of it in the 10/69 issue. What exactly am I looking for there?
I don't have the Nov/Dec Sport Rocketry - I wasn't a member of NAR then, or even flying rockets at the time. So what was the Ringhawk? MarkII

NEAT!!! I don't know if the glider itself could be flown under rocket power - it would probably need to be carried internally by a large diameter booster and then ejected for the glide phase. Great concept! MarkII

" August Tony Lentini coasted past the Adult competition with his Ring Hawk ring-wing boost glider, built from plans he grabbed off the web. " Also, a little bit of discussion here. Another view of the rocket (apparently in boost configuration on the front page of this COSROCS newsletter. MarkII
