Way cool!

James, I haven't commented on any of your designs before, but I'd like to go on record now. I have to admit that I've been *extremely* jealous of your ability to make "curvy" fins... which you do quite excellently, BTW. However, I managed to *finally* stumble through the process with RockSim last night. A couple of months back, I *also* created a "JamesPierson" subdirectory in my RockSim "Designs" folder, and have made it a point to save your RS files and .JPG 3-D exports there. So keep 'em comin'! I think they're pretty cool! Quote:

[Good stuff snipped...] Jay, I want to thank you and James for all of your recent contributions to this thread, and for allowing me to move them up to the BARCLONE site for the next update. You may not have noticed the hit counter lately at BARCLONE, but we just crossed the 20,000 mark. With the most-recent batch of RKT files that I've sent up to Scott, we have nearly doubled (if not actually doubled) the number of designs available. That means we've generated over 250 designs in the last four years. Something I'm trying to put together is a "catalog" of BARCLONE designs in PDF form. Nothing elaborate, no background images or "beauty shots" of actual models - just the RocSim 3D images -- but something that has the look-and-feel of a rocket catalog of old. I'm excited that the BARCLONE concept has finally started picking up. It's beginning to feel like what I had hoped it would be, which is a place where builders and designers could share their ideas with others.

What would REALLY give it the "look-and-feel" of an old catalog would be a bunch of "launch" pics of old guys looking like they've been over-doing the espresso. You know, eyes bugged, mouths hanging open and drooling, standing too close to the rocket, etc. Either way, count me in for a "copy".

That's a possibility -- launch shots, group shots, booster shots... If someone has photos of these BARCLONE designs sitting on the pad or just after ignition has started but before the model is moving, I'd like to see them for possible inclusion. I know there are a few BARCLONE models built, and a few of those have flown, but I've only heard of a few outside of the prototypes I've built myself. There's still time before I finish this project. I'm still working on the format for the pages right now, so the final release of this PDF is still in the future. I do want to have it ready before the year is over, however...

I have an original design I've been flying for almost 30 years but I never drew it up in rocsim because of the designs placement of tubes out under the wings. Heres some pics for someone to rocsim it. Its a BT-50 size, 12" long tube. 1-3/4" long wing pods. At one time there was a "T" tail. I call it the XF-13D 'Jaguar'. I'll see if I can find the pencil sketches of the other designs from the 70's. |

The 'star of david' roundels aren't anything meant to be perceived as religious or political.
They were simply leftover decals from a plastic model Mirage conversion that went terribly wrong! |
