Yes, please.

The Scorpius came to my attention as a possible upscale target when I discovered that the Centuri ST-8 is 1.67 times the size of the BT-5.

I’ll have the measurements for you by tomorrow (2-6).

Measure the length of the dowel rods and launch lugs.

Also estimate the thickness of the fin sheet.

Thanks in advance.

Bill

OK, here’s the info:

The (8) dowels are .125” diameter x 5” long.
The (2) launch lugs are 1/8” x 0.5” long.
The balsa sheet is 3/32” thick.

My kit is opened, so if there are any more dimensions you need, just ask.

Thanks!

I believe that the instructions on Ye Olde Rocket Plans covered everything else.

Thanks. I did not know they kitted that.

My approach to upscaling is a bit like building for sport scale competition.

They use BT-60 for the main tube which is ideal for a 1.67 upscale. But I doubt they use ST-8 and 29mm motor tube for the pods upscaled from BT-5 and BT-20.

That said, if they sold decals for it separately, I will buy a set. They do for some of their other models.

CORRECTION!

I tried to assemble the nacelles using the supplied .125" dowels but they're WAY too thick. I went through my supplies and found some straight pieces of 1/16" (.060") birch dowels and cut eight, 5 inch pieces. Therefore, the .125" dowels would probably work for an upscale (except they'ed need to be longer of course, but they're simply too thick for the BT50 sized Scorpius. The necessary thickness of the dowels is largely guided by the gap between the inner and outer nacelle tubes which is guided by the thickness of the adapter rings.

The instructions identify them as WD-2C. I could not find any reference for their length which is why I originally posted the question.

Old Estes catalogs identify WD-2 as 1/12" diameter.

I'm glad I saw this post about the dowels. My MoreRockets Scorpius will be here this week and it's next in line (after my Vesta Intruder). Thanks for letting us know - I would have likely thrown out a few choice words while putting it together....
