I know! I know! I couldn’t believe it either. The girls were probably all at the Chess Club.

Exclamation "Zoomie" by Holverson Designs

I stumbled across this on eBay, and thought of Doug H.

That is maybe a $100 kit tops.
Easily clonable too.

The seller's other offering is a $125 Mean Machine.

It was better when ebay charged a fee to put up a listing. It helped discourage crap like this - you'd be throwing away money to put up a listing that no one in their right mind would buy. Plus, the seller fees when something sold were less, so if you set your prices reasonably the seller came out ahead.
Now - with free listing - there is nothing to discourage this sort of behavior. If no one is dumb enough to buy it's no loss. And if someone who doesn't know any better springs for it, you just made a huge profit.
The current pricing scheme is a detriment to the responsible seller, while encouraging the scammers.

Couldn't agree more. And if someone puts the item on their watch list, more likely than not they will get an automatic 'offer' for some percentage below the ridiculous listing price. It's like the seller is fishing and twitching the bait in the hope that he'll get a strike.

Friendly reminder folks: this thread is for ‘actual’ eBay deals. I know some thread drift is unavoidable, but for discussions of eBay ‘silliness’, let’s try to place those listings and discussions in (yes! it actually exists!) the “eBay Silliness” thread.

As for actual deals, here is a listing for a sealed box of the Centuri Cub Scouts Akela kits, the forerunner of the Centuri (and later, Estes) Viking kit. This box would contain eight complete Akela kits, with eight Centuri #7 plastic nose cones, body tubes, streamers, and decals. Listed a $50, but the seller sent me an offer at $44. Make the same offer to them, and the set will probably be yours. I have a couple of these sealed sets, so I certainly do not need another.

I seem to recall that, recently, someone was looking for a Semroc Hustler for sale.

This ebay seller has about 60 Semroc kits they have listed in the last day or so. One of them is a Hustler. Overall, their prices are fairly decent for the Semroc kits the have listed.

The Hustler is probably the most expensive at $99, but one would expect to pay something north of $75 for a kit like this at this point.
