Default Vulcan BE-4 Engines Finally Fart!

Blue Origin's BE-4 methane/LOX fart engines were finally test fired on a Vulcan booster on Pad 41 at the Cape Wednesday. They powered up to 60% for a couple seconds, then throttled back and shut down after a total of 6 seconds. All I can say is, it's about dang time!

This is a four hour long video. I believe I have it linked to start a little over a minute before firing.

Ho-hum, so they can make a fire in the box. Now run it for a full duration burn and see if it stays in one piece.

Full duration firings have, of course, already been performed several times on other BE-4 engines. It's actually pretty important to demonstrate firing the engines in an operational configuration. Huge amount of data to be mined on how the vehicle responded to the environment created by the engines.

Now - full duration in flight? Yes - that WILL be the ultimate test...

It looks like a BE-4 slated for the 2nd Vulcan booster sharted instead of farted. It blew up on the test stand a couple weeks ago. I haven't seen video of it, but I'm sure it's out there. All the videos I clicked on with the explosion heading were just compilations of successful burns. I have to leave for a safety meeting so maybe someone can link a video for me.
