I like that 89 set and hobby den but an original is not in my hobby budget. I had some scrap wood in the shed so I made one . It’s not as pretty as xacto builds but it serves the purpose of keeping all the tools in one place.

This may be about the oldest Xacto knife set I have seen listed before. This may be possibly from the very late 30s. The seller states 1940s or 50s, but I believe it to be older than that; certainly older than the 50s.

I will try to snag it unless someone has already had their heart set on it.

I have a box that is that old, but not knives that old.
Honestly I can't tell in the pics that they are genuine Xacto handles though.
Something looks fishy in those pics; I think they may be Grifhold handles in an Xacto box.
I'm not interested in that one Earl.

Pretty sure they are authentic Xacto handles. The earliest ones I have seen photos of have this finish on them. Don’t know if they were painted then or what, but they had a dark finish on them with the Xacto name carved/etched into the handle through the finish. The earliest boxes I have seen also have the simple ‘wood slot’ holder for the blades.

So, I’ll try to snag it and if I get it, I’ll post photos back here of the contents.

Check this out; like new complete Xacto 88N hobby den set.
Price seems reasonable too.

I saw it after it popped up sometime yesterday afternoon. Looks to be in very good shape. These don’t come up too very often, but it would be kind of expensive for a good number of folks. It is not in my collection ‘target’ so I don’t need it myself.

Hey Steve! Hope you are doing well.

Yes, actually I did snag this one. I thought it might go for a bit more than it did, but was certainly not saddened to get it at a good price.

Once it arrives, I’ll make some photos of the knives and scan the papers. I also need to make some photos of the contents of the Xacto ‘Model Rocket Toolkit’ (not the Centuri tool kit) that I got a couple months ago.
