Anyone have any idea where Estes procures their BP and how the closure of this plant might affect their motor production, if it will at all?

IDK where they get it, but if they source new BP, does that mean that they have to resubmit every motor they make for testing? I sure hope not!

It's possible to make it themselves.

I doubt anyone would want to setup a new BP production facility.
Wayyyyyyyy too many hazards and regulations.

We ain't worried about no steeenking hazards. Regulations suck, however.

BTW, we have a flare manufacturing facility between Jackson and Memphis. There's a reported explosion or fire every couple of years. There's no telling how many small ones that don't get reported.

Edit: this kind of flares.

I vaguely recall hearing years ago that Estes now gets black powder from Canada.

I'm curious why it's closing, is the demand shrinking?

Reportedly there was a fire involving the BP facility a while ago so apparently the margins on BP aren’t worth the repair costs to bring the it back to full capability. Between Canada, Switzerland and China the demand will be met but most likely the cost to consumers will go up.

Estes bought GOEX! The rumor popped up on the Estes fan FB page so I did some searching and found this on an ammo reloading site https://coraweb.sos.la.gov/commerci...28_DCD 599B892
