I finally mustered the courage to lay in the vinyl decals!

I've started with the PNC and the work you see here took over 2 hours--most of the time was spent aligning and penciling. These vinyl decals are repositionable--sort of--but great care must be taken or they'll stretch and distort. One tin I do like about these vinyl decals is the richness of the color.

Booster tomorrow--possibly. It's our 29th anniversary and "The Vixen" has made reservations at someplace special that she's keeping a secret. Wherever it is, I hope they have lamb!

....and now I definitely need a drink! Good night.

Yay! Almost finished!

I've laid the decals on the booster section of the model. All that's left to do now is mount the charge retainers, erase the pencil lines, rig the laundry, and shoot the dull coat.

Happy Easter!

Mounting the charge retainers.

Now for some SERIOUS over-engineering!

I painted the 3D printed charge retainers over 2 weeks ago so there's a chance they're dry now.

I want to do a clean mounting of the charge retainers so:

First I slit some thin strips of delicate surface blue painter's tape and lay the charge retainers in place with no adhesive yet. Resting the model across my Herculean thighs I then cut (4) little tape dots with my leather punch and place them on the obverse side of the charge retainer where the adhesive is going to be applied on the reverse side. I then place short strips of tape on either side of each dot and then mark the dot location with a Sharpie.

Now with the charge retainer marked with the dots and the model's body marked with the strips and Sharpie lines I use a fresh #11 blade and slit out small squares into the raw paper of the body tube where the adhesive is going to be applied.

I then place a small amount of 15 minute epoxy at each of the (4) locations and then I lay the charge retainer in place using the aforementioned dots and marked strips as my alignment guide.

I then hold the charge retainer in position until the epoxy hardens enough for me t o let go.

I then remove the strips and dots.

See? I told you I over-engineered this!

My brain hurts. I'll do the other charge retainer tomorrow.

Wench! Wench! Where's my Scotch?! Good night.

How much does this beast weigh without motor ?
Sounds like a small "H" would be needed for a decent flight.
Is it 29mm or 38mm ?

Yes, there is such a thing as NORMAL
, if you have to ask what is "NORMAL" , you probably aren't !

Failure may not be an OPTION, but it is ALWAYS a POSSIBILITY.
ALL systems are GO for MAYHEM, CHAOS, TURMOIL, FIASCOS, and HAVOC !

It's 29mm and with the (2) 30" parachutes added it weighs 29 oz.

A G64, G78, or G80 should work.

Sounds good. I'm still not sure about how much canopy is needed. I have (2) Rocketchutes 30" nylon chutes for the model. The instructions call for (2) 36" parachutes, but 2035.75 inches of canopy seems like an awful lot of canopy. To me, anyway.
