Early 1940s Xacto Brochure
Attached is a fairly short, three-fold Xacto brochure that I believe to be from the early 1940s, possibly during the war. The earliest catalog that I have been able to find so far is a 1949 catalog, so this would predate that by a good handful of years. This does not show the entire Xacto line as it existed in those years, but it does show a decent amount.
This little brochure was apparently supplied by Xacto for use by various retail outlets, whose business name was printed on the center panel of the first page of this pdf. In this case, it was distributed by what appears to be a hobby shop in New York City called Model Railroad Equipment Corporation. As mentioned, this is a three fold brochure, so all folded up it would be six panels all told between the front and back sides. Scott, feel free to add this to the first page of this thread if you wish. Earl

Earl, the art on the front panel of your Xacto brochure has an art deco feel to it. I have a feeling that it is late art deco which would date it pre-war, most likely late 30's.

It is possible. It is really hard to put an exact finger on it without a date on the document itself or some other specific dated regular annual catalog to compare it to. Earl

Snagged a 1953 Xacto catalog off eBay earlier today. I thought this was one we had already, but when I checked my library I saw we had 49-52 from that era, but not the 53. So, we?ll fill that particular data point now.
Once I get it in another week or so I?ll scan and forward on to Scor for posting here on YORF. Earl

Got it in the mail a few days ago. Been scanning. About half way through. Should maybe finish in another 3-4 days. I have time to scan only about 3-4 pages a day. Earl
