Agreed.

Back on topic: we leave for NARAM in about an hour or so. I still need to check I-84 for wildfire-related closures.

Someone please report on the proportion of participants flying sport only.

Because this is a good sport site, I expect it to be larger than average.

Bill

Edit: there does not appear to be a page to sign up for contest range duty as there is for the sport range.

I probably won?t be able report very accurately. Because we had to slide our trip a day, we won?t be getting there until Saturday is done, I expect. On Sunday between getting to church and going down to Penrose in the afternoon we may not get much Sport range time.

After that we?ll be at the contest range for the remainder of the event. With the weather forecast, we expect some schedule modifications on the fly. We will not be paying much attention to the Sport range then.

Contest range duty signups were part of the contest registration process. Online signups are closed now.

It took us a little longer to get away that we had hoped, but Avis and I are safely at what has become our regular place to stop in Ontario, Oregon. Green River, Wyoming tomorrow.

Have most of the positions been filled?

When I made the trip across Wyoming, I just happened to overnight in Rock Springs and had to buy a copy of the local newspaper...

Try to catch the FAI S8 if at all possible. That is a spectacular event.

Bill

Edit: Never mind. I see they are flying S8D, not S8E/P, the precision landing variation of the event.

Further edit: S8P flies on Monday!

Yeah, I had to do that the first time I stopped there on this trip. I think it was on the way to NSL in 2013. This will be my fourth time to fly at the Hudson Ranch. I would have stayed at the hotel with the Penny?s diner in front in Rock Spings on this trip, but they?re too proud of the rooms (price) for me now. So we?ll go a little further today to Green River.

My wife and I were half of the altimeter-wrangling team at the WSMC last year, so we got to watch some S8/P, though mostly practice flights.

A June NARAM? Won't that run the risk of being comfortable?
