What on earth was this thing supposed to test?

This contraption looks amazing. I take it that the color is from a youtube video? I'm thinking that the red is probably that pinkish fluorescent red color, and that the front end is natural metal. It's so nice of NASA to provide the CG location in the drawing!
Thanks, Chris, for adding such a weirdly cool scale subject to the world of model rocketry! A great bit of research! |

Peter,
Should be a little easier to draw than the Soyuz, LOL. Chris, Thanks for once again enlarging our world! Steve |

Comrades:
I'm pretty sure I could build one to go up but it's the coming down that would be tricky. The CG is the "glide" CG. This rocket could make a Centuri X-24 look like a sailplane. A 1/10 scale model of the T-55 powered prototype ends up being a 1/1 scale model of the Helium gun powered model. Maybe cardboard sides and 13mm power with a streamer on the motor mount at 1/10 scale? I'm off starting Tuesday, I was going to do a Sparrow-HV Arcas gap stage but this could be fun, too.
