Would this diagram be close to the one Estes used for their launch system part of their box?

Hi Doug,

Yes, it is very similar to the one that Estes published in their, A Learning Guide for Model Rocket Launch Systems (1976 revised edition) booklet, which included the Estes Multi-Pad Launch System photo and wiring diagrams.

Kind regards,

Was the square tubing aluminum, galvanized steel, or something else?

I like those repurposed Port-a-Pad hubs.

The square tubing is aluminum for both the launch rack and for the support legs.

The repurposed Porta-Pad hubs were Ken Montanye's idea and a modification he made to his Estes Multi-Pad Launcher at some point. Originally, the Estes Multi-Pad Launcher used the #711-LP-2 swivel assemblies that were offered in the 1971 Estes Catalog: http://www.ninfinger.org/rockets/ca.../711est102.html

Yes, there is such a thing as NORMAL
, if you have to ask what is "NORMAL" , you probably aren't !

Failure may not be an OPTION, but it is ALWAYS a POSSIBILITY.
ALL systems are GO for MAYHEM, CHAOS, and HAVOC !

These were still available in 1972, and for an extra $60, you could even get an additional brand new six-pad rack (extra speaker not included)!
