Round numbers would be nice, most of the photgraphs I have seen appear to be of that round, often with Frank Malina courtesy of Wikipedia and Smithsonian sources. As for the duct tape after seeing the the tar paper roofed shacks of the launch facility there may have been some gum and baling twine in evience also.

Great photos of the WAC. Mine should be arriving in the next day or two. Looking forward to this build.

I started this build last Sunday. I have the fins all sanded, nose cone sealed and sanded and I'm almost done sanding the conduit. I also sealed and sanded fins and nose cone for the Cherokee D and also a Quest Astra. Nice to get the dirty work out of the way so when I start those kits I won't have to mess with that part of the build.
I'm really liking this WC Corporal kit so far. I'm a little mixed on what color I wan to paint it. The paint layout will be the same but not sure if I want to go with yellow and black, black and white or blue and white. And I noticed in some photos either one or two fins appear gray/brushed metal instead of solid black. Anybody care to offer some advice on the paint?

There werevtwo bare fins and one black. Also yellow and black seems to be the most accepted colors. There is a great picture on the uoregon web site.

Thanks for the link! Still not sure which colors I'm going to use but I will have two fins "metal" and the third black. Thanks again.

Thanks for the link. Is that a V-2 in the background? Looks pretty large! I finished my WAC Corporal last night. Probably the most fun I've had putting together a model rocket yet. I really enjoyed the sanding of the fins and the conduit as that is something that is not normally required in most kit construction. Definitely added a fun, challenging aspect to the build and also a bit of pride in final assembly. Now all I need to do is slap the paint on it and she'll be done and ready to go. Great job putting this kit together by the Semroc folks.

That is one of the later WAC rounds - I think those are flare fittings or antennae on the trailing edge. The Qmodeling version is a lot of fun too. You get into the argument about bevel edge or airfoil fins with that one. FWIW the fins are correct on Semroc's release, the booster used fins with a simple bevel edge.
