Thought I would post my current progress. The Easter egg and cardstock transition turned out OK.

I have a test question for any scratch builders and rocket scientists.
The Decimator is going to be tail heavy with the engine up in the middle of the fins. Should I have ran the engine tube down farther and just painted it flat black? I can still cut the lower ring and add a coupler. __________________________________________________ ______ |

If you think extending it will spoil the look, maybe make a mount that slips into the existing mount to move the motor aft? The issue I see with the current configuration is that you are going to toast the fin tips pretty badly, I think.

I could make it detachable and slip right into the existing engine mount. __________________________________________________ ________ |

Extending the tube down to the base of the fins will make it more tail heavy, as far as stability goes. As it looks now, it will be over stable. Your only two issues will be scorching as has been mentioned, and possible fin breakage on landing.

I still need to get a coat of primer on it and do a swing test but did consider that making it tail heavy. Even though the fins are 1/8" bass wood, I broke them several times trying to shape and sand them.
A little scorching I can handle. So long as it doesn't come down in flames! Might glue a strip of foil down the inside. __________________________________________________ ___ |
