Awesome model.

Columbia is a long way from Maryland.

What are you doing down there? Staying warm?

Default Ordinance Decaled and Installed.

Work has been slow but steady.

Ordinance got a coat of FUTURE to prepare the surface for decals as the paint had a flat finish. Later they got their respective decals then given two more coats of FUTURE to protect the decals. I used a transparent silicone based glue to install the missiles and fuel pods.

Still missing is a green drop bomb that will be added to the empty weapon pylon.

I am happy with how this is turning out. I do confess that I do not like close-up pictures as it shows the many imperfections on the finish, but this is an imperfect hobby. For me it is meant to tame the beast in me.

Ah, and this will be a shelf queen model... I forgot to install the launch lug and, for now, it has no motor mount. Maybe in the future, when I move back to CONUS, I will be inspired to install a MM and fly it at least once.

Raul-

Well, if all models were as 'imperfect' as this one, the modeling world would be a much more beautiful place!

Good job!

Paul,

This is a great-looking rocket. These jet plane rockets by Centuri were good rockets. I wish I had them all again. Thanks for sharing your work with us.
What's next in the wings to be built?

rosko_racer I was wondering does the tail cone have to be removed for flight or does it remain in place for flight?

The tail cone I have on the F-16 is for show and it is removable. The model at this point does not have a motor mount. It being 3D printed and made of PLA, I am pretty sure it would not hold up to the heat of a BP motor. Now you got me curious about that as I was planning this to be a "shelf queen"... I am going to build a motor mount for it and dry fit the parts it to see how they look and fit. Further changes to the tail cone may be in order if I decide to permanently add the parts to the F-16.
