Thanks, Joe. Yes, the catalog model in the '71 catalog featured matte black paint on the nose cone and payload section. The silver metallic paper bands look nice against that color and then the yellow paint sets off the booster well. It's a nice paint combination and roll bar decal (I REALLY like that roll bar decal!) that the original Egg Crate designer did such a great job with, and something I wanted to try to replicate as closely as I could. Sad that the kit was offered only that one year. Original kits are harder to come by than the 1/45th Little Joe II and are just as expensive it seems. Earl

Hiya Bob!
The silver bands are 0.25" in width. Looking forward to seeing your build!

Really nice. Love the color combination. Cool thread you link to as well. I bought and built the Semroc Retro-Repro and it's a fine kit—one of my favorites http://forums.rocketshoppe.com/show...my%27s+kitchen). I wish I'd had the foresight to purchase an extra one before the end. Of course, I can say that about a lot of things. As far as official Centuri colors go... it seems that catalog schemes were dictated by what two colors were being used on a given page. Usually, printer's spreads (what two pages would be printed with the same plate) were the same two colors; black and whatever. The color patterns are the only things that would be consistent from catalog to catalog. What they actually painted their "showroom" models was almost always something different/simplified from what the catalog schemes were. I think the catalog schemes were "ideals" and I've never felt bound to them. Though, sometimes, they are just the ticket. Particularly after lusting after a model and finally being able to build or aquire it.

Okay, I finished my Semroc Egg Crate model.
I really like this color scheme. First flight will be at NARAM-56. It will be a tribute to Carl.

Looks great....kinda partial to that color scheme myself. Carl would be proud of all the tributes to him. I've got a USS America that I am about to put final decals on that I'd like to rename the USS Carl McLawhorn. He did another great job with that kit....don't know how he did so much in such a relatively short time. Post some pics of the flight after NARAM if you can. What motor arrangement do you plan to use for the first flight? Earl

Excellent. Real nice build of a cool rocket. I'm partial to the design. Anyone have insight as to why it was only produced for one year? I know it was an Enerjet offering the next year—but that's a different rocket.
