Several years ago, when the late John Pursely was producing and selling his AWESOME vinyl wraps, he sent me two of these instantly recognizable parts to Beta test.

The plastic of this 1/70 scale fairing shroud is so easy to dry sand that I actually believe it's possibly NOT 3D printed. It seems to be molded or cast in some way--but I don't know for sure. I don't think it's ABS because of its ease of dry sanding.

The fit of the shroud is beautiful! The finished model might also be.

Did anyone else get this fairing shroud from John?

John helped us in the Dallas section to build several well detailed Saturn 1B models for the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 7 flight. In addition to his awesome wraps for the fuel tanks and body, he designed and 3D printed fins, details, and the intertank ring shrouds as pictured above.
John left the project early, but let use use the latest files. The models were well received.
I seem to recall that he wanted to improve and sell the parts he designed, but for his untimely death due to a motorcycle accident.
I had known John since the early '80s.

Carl (Semroc) mentioned to me about building one for that event, but I didn't feel I could do a good enough job with just 1 month lead time.
Missing out on that is one of my biggest life regrets, and definitely biggest hobby regret.
