Exclamation New Plan -- Bansheeta

Here's one that could not possibly have been done in V8. The flight simulations look good, even though the time delays are short. This is a ring tail design, after all.

Still cannot do a decent canopy yet...

Length: 16.63"
Diameter: 0.908" (ST-8)
Fin Span: 6.84"
Weight: 1.51 oz

B6-2......195'......Dv 10 FPS......36" x 1/8" rod
B4-2......199'......Dv 8 FPS.......36" x 1/8" rod
C6-3......369'......Dv 19 FPS......36" x 1/8" rod

On the sketch, I called out ST-7 tubes for the fin pods. These turned out to be too large, so I dropped them down to ST-5.

Enjoy!

Craig,

Did you download v9 beta from Apogee website? I tried to download evaluation until I get my ordered copy, but it appears to be still be v8.0.1. Are you and Jay part of the beta testers group? Is software availability limited to beta testers?

Thanks,

... Bill

Apparently, we are. The link to V9 was sent to me in a separate email. I had already purchased V9, and downloaded the V8 copy everyone can get from the website. I did order the CD version. Apogee might have recognized the BARCLONE name, too, and felt that I could give it a workout...

...And, of course, Jay has his Tau Zero now as an official kit, which was designed with V8. So that might have provided some support to his getting a beta copy...

I don't know what other criteria they may have been using. The release version should be available before the end of the year (they said before Christmas), so they might not be issuing too many additional beta copies now...

Bill,

No, I'm not. I had problems placing an order on the Apogee website, and ended up placing an order over the phone. Michelle Mason and I e-mailed back and forth. She said that they weren't sending V.8 unless people were specifically requesting it.

So like Craig, I downloaded the 30-day functional RS9 beta from a direct URL. As much as I hate to burst everybody's bubble, no, I wasn't a betatester and I didn't get any special treatment. (Okay, talking to Michelle at Apogee on the phone was nice because she's a very helpful and professional person, but that's *it.* )

Here's the "about" information from the copy I'm using:

+++

"Version information

Apogee Components RockSim
Version: 9.0.0b64
Copyright: 2006 Paul L. Fossey
Beta release, 64
You must register this program before Sun Jan 11 23:59:59 2009
in order to continue using it."

+++

That's all I got.

Cheers,

Looks good, and the simulation runs seem to be consistent with what I've seen in the wild.

Same basic specs, just better graphics...
Now THAT'S what I'm talkin' about!

This is what my version has:

Version information
Apogee Components RockSim
Version: 9.0.0b64
Copyright: 2006 Paul L. Fossey
Beta release, 64
You must register this program before Fri Jan 16 23:59:59 2009
in order to continue using it.

I ordered the upgrade from 8 to 9 the other night and rec'd the link in an email today.

I produced the RockSim_9.ilr license request file with it and emailed it to Apogee tonight.

So far I really like the looks and feel of v9. Looks like fun and I've been playing with it since I installed it!

Default Rocksim v9

Guys, thanks for the info re: Rocksim v9. I guess my wife is holding off on sharing the link with me to maintain the Christmas surprise! That's cool, I can wait. I'm just happy to have a wife who supports my rocket habit, I mean hobby.

The v9 designs posted so far look great guys - keep 'em coming!

Exclamation New Design -- Der Wedge

"Ask and ye shall receive..."

Or is that "Be careful what you ask for -- you might just get it!"?

A Schoolyard Sounder.

Here's one I call Der Wedge (pronounced with the thickest, stereotypical, Deutchlander accent you can manage as "Der Vedge"), for 13mm power. It has good performance for the limited power it takes.

Length: 16.49"
Diameter: 0.908" (ST-8)
Fin Span: 5.71"
Weight: 1.04 oz

1/2A3-2T......143'......Dv 22 FPS......36" x 1/8" rod
A10-3T........353'......Dv 17 FPS......36" x 1/8" rod
A3-4T.........368'......Dv 11 FPS......36" x 1/8" rod

Enjoy!

Exclamation Error Alert!!!

I've found a massive bug in this beta version. It doesn't add the lengths of pod items into the total length correctly. I'm attaching an example of this below. This is the "Star Legionaire" that I posted in sketch form last month.

I'm also going to send a copy of this to Apogee for them to study.
