Hmm. Tau Pi. That's *dangerously* close to "Cowpie." But as a former farm boy, I can tell you cowpies are P.U., instead of P.I.

(big grin) That, and the variations on the body tubes, as well as the fin pods with nose cones.

Good job, Andrew! Nicely done!

Cheers,

Andrew,

Jay's Tau nose cone makes a lot of designs look good, even a few of mine...

Good work! This should also put us over the 300-plan target I was hoping BARCLONE might reach before December.

(For everyone...)

Now, with the addition of Andrew to our little asylum of loonies, maybe BARCLONE can reach 400 plans by next...September? Do I dare suggest 500 by next December? Could we reach either of those goals?

(holding head in hands) I think Craig's little slip about "asylum" may *not* have been a slip.

--What is this? I give you number 300, and you want *MORE?!?*

...I'm going back to my Mad Rocketeer's laboratory now, so it may *be* a while before you actually see anything new from me...

Cheers, and chuckling,

Nope. Just noticing the roadside markers along the highway while driving my news vehicle around.

Oddly enough, I couldn't come up with any pictures while searching for "historical site." But I just now tracked down the following one, which I've taken pictures of before (upper right corner):

These waterfalls are just upstream (east) from where Evel Knievel "tried to do his thing" 32 years ago on Friday:

Exclamation New Plan -- SmallJet 313

With all of this EnerJet talk and the really cool designs they seem to be, I figured it was time to come up with a "poor boy's EnerJet". This version uses three 13mm A3-4T motors and puts in a respectable 438' altitude. The Dv is less than 15 FPS, and the launch guide length is less than 36", so we're not talking about major launch towers here. I just used 3/16" diameter lugs instead of 1/8" lugs...

Two pieces of SEMROC ST-1380 form the upper body with a BC-1344 nose cone. Three ST-5120 tubes form the motor cores. Fins are cut from 3/32" balsa. No motor hooks, just simple friction-fit with masking tape. Two 16" diameter parachutes bring the rocket back down safely.

Enjoy!

Very cool Craig.. I gotta build one!

One idea, for motor retention you could epoxy a short length of say 1/8" threaded rod in the center of the cluster of motor tubes and then use a nut and washer to hold all three motors. That's what I did with my Astron Cobra cluster, but with 3/16" threaded rod. I can provide a photo if anyone is interested.
