New Design: Sky Wolf
Wow, I finally came up with a good name for this design. I had some major problems with this design because I was trying to use two flat wings on the BT using fin thickness at 4" and plan points at 3/32" and 2" wide. That my friends is not a good cheat as it freaks out Rocksim. I just deleted those stupid flat fins and went with the Bt-50 tube fins. I like the way it turned out better anyway's.

The Loc 2.56 dia tubing is fairly thin walled and your design for such a large rocket at only 15.5oz moves out pretty well on the black powder motor clusters I always really liked the Loc Viper III and IV kits but found the Viper IV the more versatile of the two because it could be flown on 2 or 4 motors. Although I have never owned either kit a very good friend of mine has the Viper IV and has had many good flights using chad staging of 4 D12-0's to 4 D12-7's. Do you have a RockSim file for the Viper IV standard kit that you could post? I'd like to build 4 dummy motor tubes into the design to make it two stage and see what the DV's and altitudes are with 4 D12-0's staged to 4 D12-5(7)'s. No doubt in my mind that Ron Schultz with Loc was thinking EnerJet 2250/2650 when he designed those two Viper kits .....

New Design: Purple Haze
Here is a new design I call the Purple Haze. It uses a ping pong ball as a rear transition that will hide most of the motor. It will fly using the 13mm motors. The image shows you the business end of this design.

Updated Design: Six Shooter
Here I go again with this thing, the Six Shooter. I changed the
transition papers to .0110 thickness and the six fins .0625 thickness. I also found and Rocksim mistake, as it had the center tube coupler(part # Est NB-20) as solid which added .5 oz to this design. I changed the coupler to .0625 thickness and it helped the mass greatly. Here are some photo's of my recent launch and please forgive my poor photo editing techniques. Here are the stats: Six Shooter - Simulation results [B4-2] Launch guide length: 36.0000 In. Velocity at launch guide departure: 32.7044 MPH Minimum velocity for stable flight reached at: 29.7878 In. Velocity at deployment: 5.5232 MPH Altitude at deployment: 128.32964 Ft. Maximum altitude: 129.39960 Ft. [B6-2] Launch guide length: 36.0000 In. Velocity at launch guide departure: 32.2724 MPH Minimum velocity for stable flight reached at: 31.7649 In. Velocity at deployment: 4.7298 MPH Altitude at deployment: 126.30121 Ft. Interesting performance comparison. The B6 gets no better performance than the B4, and fractionally not as good. The slower Dv is perhaps the only plus reason for using it, but otherwise the B4 is the optimum motor. It's also good to see those changes had such a large effect on the simulation. You've gained confidence with the program, too. That's the real 'plus' here. Good photos, too. You got three out of six streamers in the frame with the main vehicle post-deployment. Looks like a fun model...

Thanks for the input Craig. I believe that I got really lucky considering I made this design two years before I rocksim it. Either luck or help from above. I agree with you however that it is a skill level 4 or 5 and please post it at Barclone.
