I was wondering myself what was up with the units being forced to metric, even when you specify imperial. Sigh. Another non-standard workaround...

James, forgive me for not responding to some of these in a timely way. This past week especially has been heavily occupied with non-important items, like work...

I'm running through all of the BARCLONE designs we've posted this year to find out which ones have not been sent up to the website. As soon as I can get that squared away, then Scott can update the BARCLONE site with a huge pile of stuff. I know he's got a bunch of new things ready to go on YORP, too...

Default New Design: Astro Ventura

Craig, no worries here on my end of the world. I havent found much time for building, Rocksimming, or posting lately either. Seem to be like a thief in the night, logging on real quick and them gone in a shot to something else.

Here is a design I call the Astro Ventura. Kind of a pun of Ace Ventura movie. On this one I may have maxed out the wierdness meter(Yard).

Sorry Jay, did not mean to say meter I meant Yard.

Enjoy and Thanks Again, JP

Yeah, well, you're a little closer to Canada than I am.

Vaguely off-topic: The "Dudley DoRight" movie with Brendan Fraser was on a couple of weekends ago, and I overheard a TV announcer (in the movie) say, "This just in! Canadian bacon is really *ham!*"

Cheers,

Here's a design that I've put together, inspired by the fact that I recently bought a 5-pack of Estes PNC-50's, which includes the PNC-50 variant with the little, um, winglets on the sides.

I don't have Rocksim 7 or 8; all I have is the demo version of Rocksim 5. So all I can post is a picture and the parts list. What I intended to use as a nose cone was a plain ogive shaped PNC-50, but I had to try to cobble one up from existing parts in the Rocksim 5 nose cone list... which didn't include a PNC-50.

This is an original design, but it's entirely possible that there's already an existing model that looks a lot like this. Let me know if that's the case.

Any and all comments are welcome. If someone wants to recreate this thing in Rocksim 8, that's great.

Rocksim 5 gives these specs:
21.125" long, 2.068 oz. with a B6-4 loaded and a static margin of 2.82 calibers.
On a B6-4, 441 ft max. altitude, 10.09 ft/ sec deployment velocity
On a C6-5, 864 ft. max. altitude, 11.67 ft/ sec deployment velocity

Unfortunately, the demo version of Rocksim 5 doesn't let you save anything, so I don't even know the empty weight or the margin of stability with a C6-5 loaded, since I didn't write them down.

Default BARCLONE Update Alert

It has taken several months of serious and intense procrastination to reach this point, but I've finally managed to get the bulk (not necessarily everything) of the plans from this thread sent up to the BARCLONE website. I spent a couple of hours tonight wading through six printed pages worth of design names and computer folders to try to get all of the 3D images and RKT files sent together. There are so many designs this time that I lost count somewhere around page two.

As soon as Scott can get all of the plans posted, those of you who sent designs through this thread need to look through the BARCLONE website and see if I've failed to post yours for some reason. There were a few that didn't make the cut due to continuing development, but there were also some (Jay, this is directed mostly to you) that I wasn't sure if I should post. If you shared a plan with us on this thread and it doesn't show up, please let me know and I'll get it sent to Scott for a follow-up.

I think you're all going to be surprised at just how many plans are now available for downloading, once these are fully available. When I started this idea, I really wasn't sure how everyone was going to respond, if at all. But I'm satisfied with the results so far, and I really hope those of you who have contributed plans will continue to work on new ideas to share. For the record, we're less than 300 hits short of 22,000 visits to the BARCLONE home page since going live...

JRT, I'll see about getting your plan worked up in RS8 and hopefully available for the website before Scott gets everything posted. Looks good!

Default Great News Craig

Nice to hear the good news about the update of Barclone.

I take it that this refers to a few of mine in particular the Six Shooter. I have been re-working the file a little bit adjusting some wieghts and cardstock thickness but still not satisfied with the result.
I would like to see a list of any and all design that did not make the cut so that they might be seen by fresh eyes.

Craig,

Contact me off-list at centuri (no space) 2006 (at) earthlink (dot) net. My brain is fuzzy, and can't remember all of the specifics. (Tau Zero, no. Everything else -- should be okay. But let's talk.)

The good news is that *my* number is significantly smaller than James Pierson's. (Love ya, JP! )

Cheers,
