Default Estes MIDGET Clone Started

Today I'm starting a build of the Estes

MIDGET

On my building blog at:
www.modelrocketbuilding.blogspot.com

This isn't the new Semroc release of the Midget.
It's a clone I picked up on EBAY about a year ago.

I'll be building it like the Semroc version for 13mm engines using 18mm casing adapters.
If you have the Semroc Midget kit, the build should be close.

Stop by and build along!

Nice job on the Miget! The Monokote trim really sets it off.

I agree! The colors work great, and the shapes of the fin trim, reminiscent of the Omega-D, really make this look extra sharp!

When I build my next Midget, I may not borrow the colors, but I plan to use the trim shapes Chris has!

Thanks ChrisM and Doug!
Monokote (and the black Contact paper blackboard cover material) is great trim material.
On a flat surface it's much easier than trying to mask it.
I wanted this one to reflect the era without just doing the fins and nose cone a different color. Hopefully, it reflects the early 1970s.

I think your color scheme and shape of the trim did exactly that. BTW, if I had been following your blog on the Midget, I could swear the nose cone was made of plastic! You have done an excellent job of filling in the balsa.
