Estes Ornaments 2014 - 2018 and later
Estes has offered rocket ornaments for sale since 2014. They are nearly identical to their 1998-2002 plastic mini rocket series Mighty Mites, in order, Ninja, Silver, Blitz, Fury and Maverick. Later the body styles were reintroduced in the Super Shot series that appeared after but ended in 2008. Although the ornaments have the same dimensions as the flyable rockets, they don’t have seperate nose cones and the aft end is sealed. Three colors were offered each year until 2019 when two colors were offered. The rockets come with the Estes logo painted on, with a sticker the buyer applies with the year. 2014-2018 were unique designs, and 2019 reuses the 2014 50’s style. The picture is an example of one of the colors from each year 2014-18 in order, and the Mighty Mites Catalog pic from 2000. In the years after 2018, the styles have been reused, but they were issued in new colors.

My guess is Estes won’t be dipping back into the Mighty Mites lineup for any more onaments since they went back to 2014/Ninja for the 2019 ornament, but there are still four other body shapes they didn’t use if they want to keep going, the Outlaw, Torque, Harpoon/Nitro, and Sizzler/Streak/Sting Ray.

Placed two Estes Black Friday orders, received a 2019 ornament freebie and a 2018 freebie. So I'm doing two COCs (Christmas Ornament Conversions).
The blue 2019 one will be tumble recovery, ala Astron Sprite. Cut off the plastic string loop and repositioned it between the fins at the widest diameter of the body. The hole left behind will be used for porting the ejection gasses. Used a standard hook, so the mini engine will shift back at ejection and the rocket should tumble (hopefully). The gold 2018 one will be breakup recovery, with engine and motor tube ejecting out the rear. Added plasticine nose weight to both, and a nozzle to the 2019 and a boat tail to the 2018. The gold one is not finished, but I dry fitted for the side by side shot. Will do launch reports whenever I get to launch these. Ho ho ho.

2014 (and 2019) look like they are based on the Ninja from the Ninja and Silver Mighty Mites set from 2000, Ninja became Mini Meanie and Space Bus, in two color schemes. Here are the 2014 ads, and family portrait and catalog pics.

2015 (and 2021,2023) ornaments look like they are based on Silver from the Ninja and Silver Mighty Mites set from 2000, Silver was re-liveried as Space Hauler then Freaky Flyer a few years later and a high power upscale of it was flown. Space Hauler was re-liveried in red for a Super Shot Set. Below are 2015 ads and family portrait and catalog pics.

2016 (and 2020) is based on Mighty Mites Blitz. Blitz appeared later as Slash in the Race set, and Shark Attack in a Super Shot set. The 2016 ad and family portrait and catalog pics.
