I think you be good for an Aerotech G300 boost with those fins.

And yep, Aerotech used to make such a motor. Burn time of about half a second as I recall. It would boost a LOC Mini Magg off the the pad in like nothing flat. Spark of ignition and just WOOSH!!....and it was whistling upward rapidly at what seemed just a tad under Mach 1 at about 150 feet and climbing FAST!

The opposite fin has now been given the same treatment. Before any adhesives harden completely I check and set the alignment by placing the booster on the floor and laying a steel straight edge across the top (bottom.)

All (4) fins are on now. I don't see them EVER coming off.

Now to do the conduits in .25" half-round styrene.

I first measure and cut the (3) pieces a little too long. I then gradually sand the ends on the Corian board until they fit perfectly between the vacu-formed ends. Using as little Testors styrene cement as necessary I lay them in.
They fit so nicely I MIGHT not even have to use any putty.

Rapture! "The Vixen" has presented me with an expertly made Black and Tan! Good night.

That's a great fin mounting mod - my fins have broken off a number of times this summer, when it lands on a not-so-soft surface , and crunched the fairings too. It's looking pretty ragged after a half-dozen flights, and the subsequent cardstock repairs.

Thanks!

Now the last step of the weekend: prepping and mounting the launch lugs.

After gluing the 1/4" x 1" launch lugs to the balsa standoffs, I use the 4" OD mailing tube covered with 220 to sand a little bit of concavity into the mounting surface for maximum surface area of the joint.
I then glue the launch lug assemblies onto the booster and fillet them with epoxy.

I'll continue when I return from Longmont, CO.

Good night. TBC

Finally!!

I finally have some time to work on the SV and to mount the bottom fairings.

I first take the piece of 4" OD mailing tube that's covered with 220 grit sandpaper and lay it across my Herculean thighs. I then carefully scrape the gluing surface of each fairing so the profile will match the SV's contour.

I then apply epoxy only the inside bottom elliptical edge of the fairing, lay it in place on the model, and hold it by hand until the epoxy is set enough for me to let go of the part.

Back to the #1969 SV.

All 4 fairing are now on and filleted with epoxy. I then slit a thin piece of tape to act as a cutting fence to trim out the 4 trapezoids from the bottom of the booster. I then shape and smooth the cuts with 220 grit sandpaper.
