Bill,

I have a loving, supportive wife. They can be found. She allows me to spend freely on guns, rockets, you name it. But neither of my "fleets" can hold a candle to her "fleet" of shoes and purses. I suspect I spend more, however ...

You marital status would definitely win when it comes to responding to doing chores, and probably a whole long list of other freedoms I've forgotten about.

I doubt it. Even if you have a closet full of black guns and custom 1911's, her room full of designer purses and shoes will add up fast. It's amazing how a plain old paisley cloth purse made from $3-4 of material shoots up in price when the name "Vera Bradley" is on it. I could understand it if it said "Vern Estes".

I'm afraid of asking her what she spends... Actually, she may spend more on the grandkids than stuff for herself. Funny how she mostly said no to our kids when hounded to buy stuff, yet has little will power for the grandkid's pleas.

My point exactly on those purses! My wife has one of those hideous purses that cost as much as my Glock. But it's her money, so I can't argue. She didn't whimper when I bought an AR-15 in case of zombies. Indeed, spouses like that can be found.

Not that we have that kind of disposable income very often. We have 6 grandchildren...

I"m not going to gripe either. She has even let me entertain the idea of another bike or two.

It sounds like flowers and a date night are owed her, unless you've already taken care of it ... however, it certainly never hurts to keep ahead of the game on nice gestures.

We tend to go out a lot, so instead of movies or dinner date, I dumped Dish (lots of issues with trees and snow/ice), I just maxed out an Infinity X1 install, with all channels (whole house DVR access, of course), and to add icing to the cake I programmed her Lifetime, Hallmark, and other movie channels into the "Favorites" folder in the Channel Guide. That should keep me in her good graces for awhile ...

Not until said bikes are safely tucked away in my shop. She might suspect subterfuge and change her mind!

I just made the remark about the better half in passing she really allows me to indulge in all kinds of frivolous stuff from telescopes, to planes, to rockets!

Its just the other day a package arrived with two rocket kits in it and she mentions "Boy you sure have a lot of rockets!"
