Well, it’s gone and at the BIN price, which was not really that bad a price for the kit that was being sold. An original MiniMax Hustler kit would run somewhere between $250-$400. And while the Semroc Hustler was not exactly like an original, it still is a nice kit with some large, expensive balsa pieces in it that would be VERY pricey now if that kit were still being offered. Yes, I *really* do miss Carl and Sheryl. Wonderful company and wonderful people. Earl

Here's one that I seem to recall others looking for. I don't think this one comes up too very often. And, not sure what it will ultimately fetch, so it may not be a really good 'deal' in the final tally. But, for information for those who may be interested.

With it being open, I doubt I will bid. About $50 is max I'd pay open.
It's fairly rare, but a clone is coming soon. Honestly I consider clones 75% as good for collecting and 100% as good if I'm building it. I buy a fair amount of original kits, but only if I snag them at a good price. There has been an Astron Delta kit on ebay for almost a year at $299. I want it but won't pay over $150.

As an open kit, it would only be good for building. That said, the dowels used for the upper stage struts appear to be warped and would need to be replaced. I had the same problem with the dowels in my old kit, and I substituted carbon fiber tubes for these.
I also found that the die-crushed fins needed some work. For an accurate, tight-fitting build I found I had to rework them to get the correct shape and fit. I used some of the decals from the kit, although a lot of patience was needed to get them to lift from the backing material, due to their age. Other markings were replaced by some reproductions provided by Gordon. But it's worth the work. With the corrections it builds into a lovely model, and it flies great. One of my favorite Estes models.

Beautiful model, John! First time I've ever seen a staging picture of it. That's great! And the Mark 2 isn't bad, either!

Yes, that IS an awesome staging photo! But how did you take it?

The staging photo was taken by Chris Taylor. My guess is he was shooting multiple frames per second to get that precise shot.

Could one assume also a somewhat low power booster engine to get a fairly low staging altitude? Earl
