It’s interesting the F50-4 is crossed out and the F62-4 darkstar is in its place. I would think the F50 would be fine.

Never seen one before, but that is a "late" MSH face card. The earlier (1995-1997) ones had a different style. I knew that the new, improved V-2 kit came out around 2002. I wonder if the Mercury Redstone came out around that time too, along with ??? other kits?

I recall them also advertising a 4" Little Joe I. I'd have to do more digging in my basement to see if I have that advert. But I do have one of their catalogs and I scanned in the page with their kits listed at that time.

Notice at the bottom of the page, the reference to the 4" Mercury Redstone coming soon as well as a 4" Saturn V in the works. As far as I know, they never did release a Saturn V kit.

I was very happy to see this thread on YORF. Mountainside Hobbies existed in the town in which I live, here in SE PA. I’d like to share some of my recollections, and I will admit that the passage of 25 years or so may have dimmed my memory some, but what the heck, I’ve dimmed some too over the years. If some of what I’m about to relate isn’t 100% accurate, or if the folks involved have different versions of events, please respond.
I recall being stuck in traffic at our town “square” one afternoon, and for some reason I looked off to my left, and saw, on the second floor of a commercial building, a sign in the window that said “Mountainside Hobbies”. Wait, what? This was in the era when brick and mortar hobby shops still existed, but the Internet was gaining steam. A hobby shop in my town?? I don’t recall my first visit – heck, I may have made a U-turn right then, but I do recall meeting Mark Kamide, the man who was behind Mountainside Hobbies, and his wife, Cyndy. Mr. Fetter was probably there too.
I checked out their model rocketry offerings – the usual Estes stuff. That changed dramatically over the next few months. Upon meeting Mark and his wife, Cindy, I knew right off that they were, and are good people. Mark greeted me with a huge smile and an engaging personality. I found out that Mark had a full-time job in tool designing and that Mountainside was a side-business, so to speak. Mark’s primary interest was in R/C Gliders, something I knew absolutely nothing about. He tried to educate me on that, and I passed along my years of experience with model rocketry. I told him that there was a thriving rocketry club in the area, SPAAR, and invited him to our launches.
As I recall, after attending a few SPAAR launches, Mark became enthused with the idea of creating some rocket kits. Along with that, SPAAR’s membership started going through the roof! Folks would stop by the shop, and then join up. It was commonplace for SPAAR to have 100+ flights in a four hour period during a club launch, the “Mountainside effect”.
Mark, and then later Randy Brust, were the brains behind Mountainside’s premier kits, such as the 4” diameter Mercury Redstone, Little Joe 1 and the second version of the V-2, which was much more scale-like than the original offering. Mark developed 4” diameter prototypes of other kits, such as the Hermes RV-A-10, Viking 10, and I believe a Little Joe II. I built a prototype 1/100 scale Saturn V, designed for composite motors for Mark. I don’t believe that it ever flew, but I hope that he still has it! There was also a rocket called the “Mark IV Lander” that Mark designed. It was basically a 4” diameter nose cone, with landing gear like the Estes Mars Lander. I was tasked with putting the prototype together. I still have it, un-flown. That might change soon.
Anyway, it’s ironic that this thread appeared when it did (thanks Wolf!!) because just weeks prior I managed to reconnect with Mark, and after the thread appeared, the same with Randy. We’ve exchanged emails, catching up, and who knows what the future might bring……..

I would love to see MSH kits released again. I missed out on the 4" Little Joe I and lost my V-2.
