Cool

That's gorgeous. I really like the fin design on that one.

Beautiful work. Great lines and a terrific finish.

Bill,

Very nice. Love the nose cone profile with the retro (?) cockpit shape. The decals are really nice looking -- they complement the rocket style. If I didn't have north of 150 unbuilt kits, I might bite.

I just received the new Estes Honest Johns today. Really anxious to get started on one, so only one went into storage.

Default Long time since I posted here...

I hate clutter more and more as I get older. So I have spent some time getting my rockets off the floor. Here is most of my current fleet - have about 3 shelves of rockets left to go.

Nice and neat. I've got 'em strewn everywhere. Hanging off the angled ceiling, on shelves, on desks, under tables, in the attic. It never ends.

That’s quite the fleet there, Bill! Looks like they ‘shelve up’ pretty well. Do you like the yellow Estes stands? I had thought about getting some packs of those for a while now and just never have done it. But, I DO need to do some of what you have done myself. Mine are just getting stacked here and there in one room.

I do like the Estes stands - they provide stable support. Bought a bunch of them from AC Supply when I placed my last order.

With the new Estes screw type retainers, you need to use a stand 1 size smaller (13 mm for 18 mm tubes), insert a spent motor casing backwards into the rocket, screw on the retainer, and slide the stand up into it. That way you can keep the retainer with the rocket (Easy for me to loose).

I've got thousands (many from school launches) of spent motor casings and plenty of scrap wood. I just cut little squares, cut a slot in the casing for the motor hook, and glue them to the square. Kits like the Orbital Transport or Interceptor deserved and got Semroc stands (Centuri clones). The ones that are stable without a stand, usually sit that way, and of course, I've got a bunch hanging from the ceiling.
