The challenge was maintaining the rocket's overall shape while making the recovery system practical. Remember this "motor tube all the way through" setup from some of our e-mails last year? Or was that earlier this year?

Jay, eliminate the excess weight and go with the streamer; use only enough ballast to get a safe margin with a "C" motor. Sometimes parachutes are more trouble than they're worth, especially with ST-7 / BT-20 diameter models. You can notch up the Dv with the streamer, since it doesn't "open up with a bang" at deployment.
