Sorry for the confusion. I think I misintepreted the records at the Colorado Secretary of State web site. The renaming to "Estes-Cox" is linked to a record dated 3/10/1994, but has a document number of 20031256810. The document number implies that the name change was effective in December of 2003. That makes more sense since "Estes-Cox" acquired "Centuri" in 2002.

But, if Centuri acquired Cox in 1996, why is there a record showing "Estes-Cox" incorporated in Delaware in 1994? My guess is that the record is really for "Centuri" but was changed to "Estes-Cox" when Estes-Cox acquired Centuri.
