It's not pavement, the runway surface is cloth geotex matting material and is quite soft, plus I have nylon skids built in, it may sound loud on video but there isn't any damage. The grass area is rougher and can grab control surfaces like on the f105 so I prefer the runway. Trust me, I've done this a few tines😃
I've got many dozens of flights on my models with no damage from the runway. Plus landing in the grass I have to pick grass out of my control horns afterward And, what's better than hitting the centerline of the runway
