The field we launch low power from is about 1800 ft long, but only 400 ft wide. There's an adjacent baseball field (which the astrocam landed in), and an adjacent track/ tennis courts, but lots of thick trees between them. And under the trees are a large creek and a small creek. And for some reason the trees suck rockets towards them. In winter, the trees reveal their haul over the years! Hard to do mid power there, but it can be done. A kid flew an Argent on an F15 this weekend and it landed about 50 ft from the pad. I've flown a NCR Phantom one a G40 three times there, but it has to be a NO WIND weekend (like this one... though the Astrocam still jumped the trees to get to the ballfield.)

However, the school likes us there, we've been there thirteen years and it's the closest place we have to Atlanta proper. So we do one launch a month there. In the next couple of months we start flying mid-high power about an hour away west of Cartersville, with a 2700' diameter sod farm and an extension that goes with prevailing winds up to a mile. Can't wait!
