Have you considered kitting it? Balsa fins and nose cone would be fine, but 3D printed *or* cast resin fins and nose cone (either hollow-cast "pseudo blow-molded" [even roto-casting it by hand works, see: http://www.ninfinger.org/models/rms...resin_cast.html ], or solid-cast with micro-bulb filler [the screw eye can be "investment cast" into it] would be easy to make), and:
A "3-in-1," builder-customizable kit could be built as either an S-520, an SS-520, or the SS-520-4 or -5 satellite launch vehicles. The SS-520 or SS-520-4/5 model could also have, if the builder desired, a live, spin-stabilized second stage (or a live, spinning second stage with an "inert" third stage, for an SS-520 SLV round model). The second stage would be spun by the canted first stage fins before separation, the second stage's motor would be ignited via gap-staging, and the first stage could be streamer-recovered using Evan "Buzz" Nau's simple gap-staged booster recovery system (it utilizes a rear-ejected motor mount with a vented tube that extends between the first stage and second stage motors [see: http://www.oldrocketforum.com/attac...achmentid=40183 ]).
