The X-Fires (Art pronounced it "Crossfire") and Double Helices were not identical. They differed in the physical layouts but both were exceedingly cool. The corkscrewing smoke trail was a great sight during the day and we occasionally launched them at night also.

The important thing is the launch platform. A 1/4 inch bolt through a pair of crossed 2x4s works well. Trying to launch from a regular launch rod is an invitation to disaster.
