Exclamation New Plan -- Quasi-Dodo

OK, so we're back onto a "Goony" theme today. Serious rocketry has to take a break once in awhile -- we gotta recharge the old bat'trees now and then...

Introducing the Quasi-Dodo, a rip-off of the Quest Superbird and some of James Pierson's ringed wonders, combined with my obsessive-compulsive disorder with open-frame fins. RockSim says it will fly, however. It also complies (barely) with the VR class specifications...

As noted, start with a Quest Superbird. You can build the model as shown in the kit instructions up to the point where the fins would go on. If you like the kit components for the motor mount, knock yourself out. The new RockSim fin patterns will have to be cut into two pieces, to allow for the rings to fit properly. (I'll whip out some true templates later...) Use a sanding twig to remove the areas where the rings need to fit into.

Only one motor is recommended for this bird:

C6-5......659'......Dv 10 FPS......36" launch rod

The launch lugs are mounted on standoffs to clear the rings.

Enjoy!
