New Plan -- Andromeda
A sister-ship to the older Antares design, the Andromeda has some good performance numbers in spite of its frail looks. With proper reinforcement of the fins (lamination of the outer surfaces with label stock, or even a woven FG cloth), the fins should hold up to the lift-off and landing stresses. Recovers under a 12" parachute, which should be sufficient.
Addendum: Although not drawn this way in the RKT file, one possible reinforcement (and dress-up) would be the addition of 1/8" diameter dowels in the fin tips and intermediate connectors [where the joints narrow down], bridging the gaps instead of plain balsa. I may have to break down and PDF this one, since there is some special work that has to be done with the fins at the shrouds.
Length: 24"
Diameter: 1.34" (ST-13 reactor shrouds)
Fin Span: 5.82"
Weight: 1.83 oz
All motors can launch safely from a 36" standard rod.
