I go back and forth on this, but I'm trying to lean towards "lean." The astronomy folks'll tell you the best telescope is the one you'll use, and I'm finding the same about my field kit. I love being utterly and completely prepared, but when the prep gets in the way of the flying, the fun drizzles away.
