Yes, they discharge quick just sitting around - the charger is on a shelf above the washer/dryer so I rotate them when I do the wash 😆
I bought two sets three-ish years ago and so far so good...but even before I bought the rechargeables using good quality, fresh alkalines worked fine. The NiMHs were really an experiment that worked for me so I’ve kept using them.
