"Sorta-scale" Saturn Ib

1 Attachment(s)
After two months I have FINALLY finished my Saturn Ib. This is what I call "sorta-scale," as it's as close as I can get of a compromise between scale, practicality and available parts. It's based on BT-5, 50, 55 and 70 body tubes. The wraps are from Frank Claunch. The CM is an old Nike-Apache nose cone. The LES is a golf tee and dowels. And yes, the fins are intentionally too big for more strength and stability. I hope to launch it at NEFAR this weekend.

 Very sharp! I applaud your use of the golf tee for something actually useful. Now I feel bad for beheading so many of them tonight. :o

Terrific job on an pretty difficult scratch-build. And clever use of a golf tee. In the unfortunate event that the capsule portion comes in nose first, you've employed a device meant to be driven into the ground ... :p

Here's hoping you never have to yell......."Fore!"

This is a really neat idea, and well pulled off.

Hi Joe,
You have done a real good job on this "sorta-scale," Saturn 1B.
It's nice to see my wraps used. You did a great job applying them, and scaleing them, for your project. Keep up the good work.

Frank C.
